REason I'm staying single...Pt 2

awww....what a pretty groom

Tuuli & Moh Cheng

My parents has been waiting years for this cup of tea!!

Finally got to settle down to write about my sister’s wedding…… Spend the whole of tuesday sleeping & walking around the house like a zombie...my sister’s wedding has really exhausted the entire family!!

I dun think I want to coordinate anymore weddings...unless it’s Moh Cheng’s wedding. That...I’ll be glad to do it becoz finally someone wants her!! hahahahaha

Well the morning session went smoothly. The torture part was really funny. The “Ji Muis” got Matti to sing a song in cantonese which he did pretty well cause Moh Yeen has been training him to speak cantonese. We were hoping Matti’s parents won’t get a culture shock (with all the noise my relatives were making!) Glad to see them really enjoying themselves...Moh Cheng was trying her best to translate what the “Tai kum cheh” was saying during the entire tea ceremony!

The dinner part also went quite well accept for a few hitches here and there. Eveyone was praising me, telling me that I did a good job coordinating the wedding becoz everything went very smoothly. Well first of all I have to give a lot of credit to the events coordinator of Renaissance Hotel, Jessica. She makes my job so much easier becoz everything in the ballroom was set up perfectly and accordingly to what my sister asked for. She was very good and efficient…she didn’t have to stay the whole nite but she did just to make sure everything is ok. I’m definitely going to recommend this hotel to anyone who’s getting married. Plus the food is not too bad (my uncle supplies veggies to the hotel so the chef wouldn’t dare give us lousy food!! ) Of course most of the relatives we talk to will ask me & MC the same question…”when is our turn?” One of my mom’s fren asked me how old I was and I told her jokingly that I’m 18 and then she said in a very serious tone “oh my son is 20 years old and he’s 6 feet tall and weighs 200lbs. I think both of you will be right for each other” My cousin sister and MC who was standing beside me burst out laughing.

Of course no wedding is without any hitches. Matti’s mom wasn’t feeling well and just minutes b4 the bridal march in…we’ve decided that she really need to go to the hospital...her stomach and legs were bloated (of course she still insist that she wants to stay for the dinner until my sister persuaded her to go to the hospital...some old ppl can be very stubborn!), she couldn’t even stand up and her hands were shaking. Jessisca was very helpful...she arranged for a van from the hotel to fetch them to the hospital. Our relatives & frens were wondering what happened to Matti’s parents. Of course he explained a bit of what happened during the speech. I must admit that I was only a bit worried about her. I was more worried about if my sister and Matti would be able to enjoy their wedding and if everything was on schedule! ;P It’s a pity the parents dun get to attend the dinner…they were very excited about it and couldn’t wait to get to KL just to attend this dinner. Anyway please pray for Anita (Matti’s mom) & the dad, Juhani. The doctors found out that she has pneumonia and denggi!!(most probably got it when she was at Langkawi b4 coming over to KL). She’s still in the ICU and not out of danger yet…the doctors need to observe her at least for another week. We are very worried that she might not be able to make it. MY & Matti are flying back to Finland this saturday…they have to start work on monday…Tuuli is going back on Friday and Juhani have to extend his stay here for at least a week. I have to reassure MY not to worry too much becoz we are here and we’ll take care of them. sigh... what a week...

Pre-wedding dinner

The red cloth is up….the altar table is set….the mahjong kaki’s are here…even the groom is getting a manicure….

yup….pre-wedding dinner…After church I went home…took a BIG rest and then got ready my big smile and went downstairs to greet my relatives and parent’s frens…. Some ppl…I dun even know if they are relatives or frens!! The noise level is so loud I think ppl can probably hear us all the way at KLCC!! I was telling everyone that one “Lee”( my mom’s side) family is enough….when you combine them with the “Yeong” family(dad’s side)…….HAVOC!

The caterers brought a HUGE wok to cook the food….if my grandma is still alive she’ll luv the wok! It’s big enuff to fit I think…… 5 babies!! Hehehe We even had someone bring in a whole roast pig and cut it up for us to eat. According to tradition the groom’s parents have to buy a pig for the bride’s parents and then when the pig is all cut up the groom have to bring the pig’s head back to his place……dun know what it symbolise but I sure do enjoy eating the roast pig! hahahahahahha

Anyway finally got to meet Matti’s parents, Juhani & Anita and they gave each of us quite an interesting gift….my mom got a set of tools for cleaning fish(dun think she’ll ever use it…she’ll probably give it to me), it’s like a gift set in a very nice wooden box…….. I got something that looks like a BBQ fork which you can pull it out and subtract it. Cool eh?!

Ok…wedding’s day tomolo…..better go to sleep now….if I can… my little cousin brother’s staying overnight becoz he has to open the bridal car door for the groom and he’s so excited he can’t sleep and kept talking & talking & talking & talking…………sigh……

Reason I'm staying single...

Yesterday the guys came and put up the canopy for the dinner we are having at my house this Sunday. Ppl were asking if we are having a Christmas party & I’ll tell them no… it’s a pre-wedding dinner party. One thing I dun understand…..my sister’s having the wedding dinner the next day but still my parents want to cater and invite most of the ppl who will be attending the wedding dinner to come for a pre-wedding dinner! Might as well make that a wedding dinner so we dun have to smile and entertain relatives and frens for 2 nites in a row!! I’m so glad that BLC is having a worship gathering on Sunday morning…at least I can get away from my house for at least a few hours...I hope....I’ve oledi asked my mom twice if she need me to be around on Sunday morning and she said no…..but knowing my mom she might change her mind....so Sivin......I hope you have a backup plan in case I dun turn up! ;P hehe

2 more days until my sisters wedding. Gosh… I can’t wait for the the day to come. Last few days I’ve been hearing my mom complaining about frens & relatives who r not coming. “That Mrs. So & so….dun give me face….. know my daughter’s getting married also give some stupid excuse for not coming” “That Ah Keong (a distant relative)…dun come also dun give us a call, so rude!” *roll eyes* I think my sister’s stress level has definitely gone up since the day she came back beginning of the month. I think my parents contributed a lot to it!! Ngahahahahahahahah Mine will definitely go up on Monday since I’m coordinating her wedding. It oledi went up a lot when I had to do the invitation cards for her! (BTW..a bit of advertisement here…. Melanie did a great job with the cards. You want to do any printing look for her 012-3712107)

Yesterday we went out for a family dinner (minus Moh Cheng becoz she wasn’t feeling well) with my bro-in-law, Matti & his sister Tuuli. They’ve been staying at our place for over a week now. We were just eating and talking (about food..as usual) and it has suddenly sink in to me that I’ve just gained a brother & a sister. How cool is that!! And both of them likes to eat too!! They’ve found the right family. hahahahahahahah

I LUV THIS MOVIE!!

It's weird how things turn out.

I've been waiting for the movie version of "The Chronicles of Narnia" to come out since many years ago and when I found out that it's coming out this year I've been waiting & waiting & waiting & waiting & waiting for the day for it to open in Malaysia. No other movie has ever got me this excited (hmmm accept maybe Charlie & the Chocolate factory and....sad to say that movie was a HUGE dissapointment!) I watched Lord of the Rings 1 year after it came out....the Star Wars movies...watched it on DVDs months later and I haven even watch Episod 3 yet. But this movie I've just got to watch it becoz I just luv the book. So I planned & planned for weeks to buy the ticket early and watched it when it opens today. I plan that I'll go to GSC at I-Utama on tuesday afternoon, queue up and buy the ticket for the very first show today. Then my sister who just came back from Finland asked me to accompany her to the NRD to get her MyKad done. *sigh* We waited 6 hours there. So much for planning to queue up to buy ticket. I didn't want to watch it at Megamall becoz I hate the crowd there.....either u'll get someone talking on the phone or someone chatting with each other. I just want to watch this movie in a nice, silence atmosphere. My sister said that my bro-in-law wants to watch it too so just wait until he comes here next saturday and we'll all go watch together. Anyway I've already given up on watching the movie today.

I was just telling Liz that this is really 1 movie that I'm dying to watch (we were in megamall for lunch with Jo & Helena) when I had a phone call from Chin Hor telling me he has extra ticket and it's at GSC 1-Utama!! hahahaha I think I nearly did a cart-wheel there at megamall! hahahah After putting down the phone I couldn't help grinning and Jo was like looking at me thinking that I've gone crazy. I grin all the way walking to the busstop to wait for Chin Hor to pick me up. It's like getting an early christmas present.

If you think that Harry Porter and the Goblet of Fire is good... this movie is better. After Charlie & the Chocolate Factory I was hoping that this movie won't dissapoint... it didn't. It did great justice to the book. The script was well written and the cast was good. Tilda Swinton was born to act as the Witch. I liked the girl who played Lucy...she's good...The flow of the movie was good...not too draggy. The soundtrack was excellent. Even Jochebed likes it (both of us luv the book and she was also dissapointed with Charlie & the chocolate factory!) I'm just happy with the movie. I'm so glad I get to watch it today. I think I'll watch it again when my bro-in-law comes. Anyone who's reading this and if you haven watch the movie yet...GO AND WATCH IT. If the respond is good they'll continue producing the movie for the other 6 books. I would luv to watch "The Magician's Nephew" I'll get to see how Narnia was created.

Ah Hor THANKS FOR THE TICKET!
*grin**grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin* *grin*

Little Taugeh

Last Saturday while some BLCians was spending some time with around 40 kids from Rumah Hope at Taman Tun Park.......I too was spending my time with ...hmmm close to 30 kids/toddlers/babies & double that amount of parents/families/maids at my sister's childcare center. She was celebrating her center's 5th Anniversary. As usual I was the photographer there. The party started with a kid's talentine show.....one of the kid sang the famous song by Teresa Teng "Yue liang tai biau wo de sing" (er....moon taking my heart?!?) another one did storytelling and one did a piano recital. Considering that most of them are around 4-5 years old they are really good. My favourite one is the kid doing the song "We are the Champions"....He was jumping and punching his fist in the air. The crowd was cheering & clapping for him.

After that we had makan time. We had curry chicken, nasi briyani, pastas, nuggets, yam cake, chicken meatloaf, kuihs, KFC, and other stuff. My sister had a cooking contest so most of the food were cook by the parents and all of us get to vote for 2 of our favourite dish (in a way MC dun need to pay to cater food...brilliant idea eh?). In my opinion the people who won the top 3 prizes....their food was ok… (one of them didn't even cook hers...she bought the yam cake from megamall). I voted for this cream caramel...it was so good.... I had to stop myself and my cousin from eating all of it. Too bad it didn't win. Oh well I guess my cousin & I were the only ones with good taste!! My sister should have appointed me as food judge! Hahahahahhaahahh

Lil Beansprouts..that’s the name of MC’s center. Seems like yesterday when she first started the center. It’s amazing how she can cope with the kids 5 days a week for 5 years. I remember I was helping her for 6 months few years ago and within the second week I felt sick with sore throat, flu and cough. hehe Funny though, I’ve never really asked her why she named her center “Lil Beansprouts” Occasionally I’ll give her a prank call….”Hello…taugeh center?….ah can I order a plate of salted fish taugeh ah?” hahahaha of course I’ll alwiz get a scolding from her but it’s worth it. Hahahaha I’m glad she decided to go on her own after working a couple of years for another childcare center. At least it’s something that she’s passion about. I think by opening this center she is certainly a blessing to a lot of kids. Though it’s a very stressful job but I think when you see the smile and laughter coming from the kids you’ll know that it’s all worth it. So MC……Happy 5th Anniversary! May we be able to celebrate many more anniversaries and hopefully the next round it’ll be in a nice big colourful house eh? ;P

*Photos coming later…MC….. hurry up go and develop the photos!!
