I say po-ta-to, you say po-tah-toe

A lot of people have been asking me for the recipe for my potato salad. It's very easy to make. So here it is.....

Ingredients (This recipe is for 8-10 ppl)
5-6 large Potatos
A can of Tuna in oil
Mayonaise (about 3-4 tablespoon)
1/2 red onion (chopped)
mixed herbs
salt & pepper

Peel potatos, cut it up in chunks & boiled them until soft.
Add in all the other ingredients and mixed.

For the best taste, do it the nite before and let it sit in the fridge overnite for the potatos to absorb all the flavours.

That's it. Easy right? Oh yes one more thing. If you want it to taste even better....add in the secret ingredients....... some TLC. ;P

Death of the Cold Within

Today as I was cleaning out my mails from Yahoo, I came across this article a fren send to me long time ago. Kind of sad that this is the kind of things that's happening around the world today.

Six humans trapped by happenstance

In black and bitter cold.

Each one possessed a stick of wood,

Or so the story's told.

Their dying fire in need of logs,

The first woman held hers back

For on the faces around the fire,

She noticed one was black.

The next man looking cross the way

Saw one not of his church,

And couldn't bring himself to give

The fire his stick of birch.

The third man sat in tattered clothes;

He gave his coat a hitch.

Why should his log be put to use

To warm the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back and thought

Of the wealth he had in store.

And how to keep what he had earned

From the lazy poor.

The black man's face bespoke revenge

As the fire passed from his sight,

For all he saw in his stick of wood

Was a chance to spite the white.

And the last man of this forlorn group

Did naught except for gain.

Giving only to those who gave

Was how he played the game.

The logs held tight in death's still hands

Was proof of human sin.

They didn't die from the cold without,

They died from the cold within.

Let's hope we can all change our mindset for the better...

Just found out that my school has an alumni website. Not too bad. It's nice to see photos of the school and of Sister Enda(the founder).

Do I have to go thru this every year?

Read Messy Christian's blog about CNY & her relatives. hehe Hilarious becoz it's the same thing over at my place....THE LOUD PART. Well thank goodness most of my cousins are around my size so I dun get the "oh ur've put on weight" part and since I'm the youngest and all my sisters are not married yet so I dun get the "are you going out with anyone?" part too. Well.... maybe a bit but not to the point that I'll need to go out and hire one! ;P!

But the LOUD part...oh boy...... Basically all of them who comes to my house only have one agenda....to gamble. The men(my uncles & my dad) will alwiz play mahjong, the women and the rest of the younger generation will either play Blackjack or Ginrummy or sing Karaoke. Can you imagine.... the noise of mahjong tiles plus 20 over adults and kids talking AND shouting AND singing AND running around. I'm amazed that my neighbours haven complain yet. But I do enjoy seeing them having so much fun and having so much food. I'm just relieve that it's only once a year.

The part I dun like about CNY?........ My dad's teasing about me about Jesus. It's not only that. Whatever chance he has he'll embarass me or my third sister in front of the relatives. Every year. Without fail. Dunno why. He doesn't do that to both my eldest sisters. Only my third sister & I. Every year I would just feel angry and my face will go all red. He'll alwiz say things like "wah your Jesus says you should not waste food" or "haha call your Jesus to bless you" in a mockery way. It sounds worst in Cantonese. This year when he started it I just shrugged it off and asked him if he has anything new to say. haha He just kept quite. Well it didn't stop him becoz he did it again when we had dinner yesterday with all the relatives. At least I dun feel so piss off anymore. I really want to ask him what's the purpose of all this mockery.....is it to stop me from going to church?.....is it to stop me from being a christian?...is he trying to make me cry? is he trying to make me angry?if Yes then why? I guess I'll never know becoz I dun dare ask him these questions as he may get a second heart attack. The mouth is his. He can say what he likes. I've come to realise the only thing I can change is the way I react to it. Or not react to it. Like the chinese saying... "in one ear, out the other ear".

Being a BIG kid

Had a great time yesterday nite playing with 3 of my nieces. I thot I can have a very relax nite and was waiting for a program on Discovery channel to come on. Then my aunty called and said she's coming over. I didn't know that she was bringing her granddaughters along until I heard them coming in. I haven seen them for a long time as 2 of them are from singapore and the other one...well I seldom visit the parents so I only see her once a while. Barely 5 mins into the programme they arrived. I was deciding if I should go downstairs and play with them or continue watching the show as I've been waiting to watch it for the whole week. For those of you who knows me...nothing can ever budge me from the TV if I really, really want to watch a show. Even if I have frens who comes back from overseas and wants to meet up with me I'll tell them "Sorry....I want to catch this show..I'll catch you the next time you come back!" ;P Anyway after another 10 mins I switch off the TV and decided to go down and play with them. While my parents were chatting with my cousin and my aunty, we played "Junior Pictionary".
I was partner with the youngest one, Stephanie who is 9 years old & the other team is the 2 older ones, Geraldine(Stephanie's sister),12 and Yee Man,11 years old. When you play pictionary with young kids remember this....there are no rules at all. Well... the other team won and the 2 older kids were jumping around and celebrating. ;P After pictionary we played charades and another action game which I have no idea what it's called(it makes a good ice-breaker game). We were jumping, rolling, and running around. All 4 of us were just laughing the whole time and I kept asking them what are they laughing about but they just continue laughing. I've never had so much fun playing with them since I last saw them a few years ago. I've alwiz have a fondness for my nieces especially for Yee Man....... I still remembered when she was just a few months old and I was cradleling her in my arms and now she's oledi 11 years old!!

After waving goodbye to them wondering if I'll see them again next year I walked back into the house feeling like a kid again. No regrets about missing the TV show. *GRIN*

Shining Presence

Yesterday during worship gathering at BLC I was doing the slides for the projector when I noticed there was an exceptionally glaring light coming from somewhere. As I look up I saw that the light was coming thru the glass cross at the Grace Wing. Either the sun was especially bright yesterday or I've only just noticed it despite sitting at the same spot doing the projector for many sundays. For a while it was kind of annoying & glaring (I was wishing that I brought along my sunglass!;P). Then we started singing this song "You Shine" and all of a sudden I felt that the light was God's way of telling me that He's in our midst now, and He's shining upon all of us. I couldn't stop staring at the cross and smiling. It is indeed a beautiful sunday.

You shine
Brighter than the brightest star
Your love
Purer than the purest heart
You shine
Filling us with courage and strength
To follow You

ok here are some photos Raymond took at Bukit Merah. Still waiting for those from Paul....

10 Commandments

ok since James has been asking us to blog about our LG & Chin Hor has no time to do it so I guess I'll write a bit about it.

For the past 2 weeks our group have been learning about the 10 Commandments and the previous week we learned about the Bible in general. We did the usual stuff. Ask questions and get other people to answer it and Sivin will rectify or add on to the answers. Last week Sivin asked us to share one thing we've learned so far. When it was my turn to share I couldn't think of anything.....my mind just went blank. I'm like that....if you ask me on the spot to think of something I've learned or share about something, I won't be able to come up with an answer straight away (that's why I dun think I can be an MC or a talk show host! ;P) Anyway I shared that I've learned what Sivin has taught us, that the 10 commandments actually has 2 parts, the first 3 commandments is about God and the rest are about people. I remember someone asking why is there only 3 commandments about God and so many about us......and I think Joey is the one who came up with the answer, 1 GOD and 6 billion people, that's why! ! hehe

Well when I went home I was still thinking about the 10 commandments..... I was thinking about the overall picture, what it represent or what it mean to us. Then this thot suddenly came to me...... the 10 commandment together with the other one that Jesus gave us (love the Lord with all your heart and soul and love ur neighbours too...some called it the 11th commandment), it's like a summary of what the Bible is all about. It's like each commandment is a big huge title and the stories in the Bible is supporting it by teaching us what to do, what not to do, what is right and what is wrong. .....hmmmm.... just a thot, I am still pondering about it.
