Snow. Wolf. Lake. Encore
Just came back from Jacky Cheung's musical "Suet Long Wu". What can I say.... it's a Jacky Cheung show so obviously it should be good...more than good...right after the show I turned to Moh Cheng and said "Damn...now I wish I went to watch the cantonese version!!" Surprisingly I managed to understanding most of what they were talking about on stage(the show was in mandarin). And they even showed the lyrics during the songs so I guess it helps a bit too. The songs where fantastic....ok so I've been listening to it for the past 6 years... but it was good, very good (most of the songs were written by a singaporean). Jacky's voice...as usual...was superb. The story....a tragic love story......some part doesn't really make sense but the ending was quite touching...I shed a few tears here and there.....the song is so touching...
Funny......I had to remind myself that I'm not going for a Jacky Cheung concert but going for a musical. Moh Cheng told me not to embarrass her by shouting "Hok Yau"(jacky's chinese name) in the middle of the show! hahahahahah as if I would. I'm not that crazy u know. Someone did that b4 the show started (proof that there's someone crazier than me!)
One thing bad that I have to say about the show.... I'm never ever going for a musical again if it's held at the Putra Indoor Stadium. I was sitting quite high up and man... the place was so steep that if u have a bad case of "fear of heights" u'll faint right there. Most of the time I was holding on to the railing. And the aircon...ha...what aircon... most of us have to fan ourselves. Thank goodness the tickets are free if not I think we would feel cheated. Imagine paying RM240 per ticket and u get seats like that?
Overall I guess my sister & I really enjoyed the show despite the er...language problem & the venue. It's one of the better ones that I've seen. I nearly felt asleep watching "Chang & Eng"(about the siamese twins)... Miss Saigon was....so so. But we both agreed that our favourite musical is and will alwiz be "The Phantom of the Opera". I remembered right after watching it the first time, I went outside and went straight to the ticket counter and bought another ticket to watch it again the following week. It was that "haunting"! hahaha "haunting"...get it?!? ngahahahahhahahahah...erm....
Now ......looking forward to Hok Yau's new movie "Perhaps Love"....another musical..coming out on 8th December...same as "Chronicles of Narnia".... hahaha I think you'll know where to look for me on that day.......
