It's funny.... last sunday I was reading an article in The Star newspaper about the writer who was asked to help buy some Louis Vuitton thingy in Paris by a stranger and I was laughing at the story saying "Hey the same thing happened to me too!"
Few years back as I was sitting on a bench at Champ Elysee soaking in the atmosphere of Paris when a chinese lady approached me and asked me if I can do her a favour. And of course in my very, very broken chinese I manage to figure out that she wanted me to get something for her from the LV shop. I'm not sure about all the other LV shops in the world but the LV shops in Paris is not like other shops where you can just walk in, browse thru the items and decide if you want to buy or not. No, the LV shops here, you have to queue up (somehow the people queueing are all asians!) and when it's your turn they'll have someone attending to you. They'll ask you what would you be interested in, sit you down and bring the items over to you. Wow it's like having a personal shopping assistant! hahaha And the shop policy is that you can only purchase 1 item of the same kind meaning you can only buy like one handbag and one suitcase but you can't get like 2 handbag or 2 ties or whatever. The lady already bought a handbag and she wanted another one so she asked me if I could help her get another one...doesn't matter about design and when I agreed straight away she gave me 2000 France Francs. Wow.... either she's a very trusting person or she's desperate. It's like double of what I had to spend in Paris for a week.
Anyway the handbags were out of stock, I gave the lady back her $$$ and walk away laughing & thinking that 'stuff like that only happens to me'. haha Apparently not. SO for anyone who wants to experience shopping in a LV shop in Paris and have no $$$.... try hanging around at Champ Elysee....I think you'll have a good chance of someone approaching you to help them get something... ;P
